The tradition of the Potter Valley Rodeo Royalty Contest is a celebration that highlights the western spirit and talent of our community’s youth. Every year, aspiring candidates vie for the prestigious title, showcasing not only their outstanding horsemanship skills but also their active engagement within our community. As an ambassador, our Queen proudly represents both the Potter Valley Rodeo and our community, participating in various events and rodeos across the state of California.
2024 Potter Valley Rodeo Queen Contestants
Emerald Mueller, a sophomore at Ukiah High School, is vying for the title of 2024 Potter Valley Rodeo Queen. Within the halls of FFA, she showcases her talents by exhibiting pigs, goats, and dairy cows while holding the esteemed position of Chapter Sentinel. Beyond academic pursuits, Emerald thrives in the realm of junior rodeos and CHSRA District 2 competitions.
Her journey in rodeo began at the tender age of 10, with Potter Valley serving as her first Rodeo. Over the years, Emerald has honed her skills, participating in High School Rodeo for four consecutive years and securing a spot in the State finals each time.
The decision to pursue Potter Valley Rodeo royalty stems from a deep-seated affection for the sport, fostered by her earliest rodeo memories. Despite her initial shyness, Emerald has blossomed into a more confident individual through the campaign process, embracing self-assurance and adeptness in social interactions. Gratitude fills Emerald’s heart as she acknowledges the pivotal roles played by her family members. She extends sincere appreciation to her stepfather, Nick, for his unwavering support and encouragement.
Additionally, she credits her mother and grandmother for igniting her passion for rodeo and expresses profound gratitude to her father for his steadfast presence and unwavering support.
Kylee Blake, 23 years old, hails from a small town in Southern Humboldt County but now calls Potter Valley home. Her passion for horses and competing was ignited by her Aunt.
During her high school years, Kylee was a member of CHSRA District 2 and excelled in three sports. Following graduation, she pursued her interests at Feather River Community College, where she participated in the Equine Studies program while also playing basketball.
Currently employed as a ProSales Associate at Herc Rentals, Kylee intends to further her education by re-enrolling in college to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Ag Business. Her decision to run for Potter Valley Rodeo Queen stems from a desire to educate others about the rodeo and western lifestyle, all while having fun. Despite the challenges, Kylee has learned to embrace confidence and serve as a role model within her community. She hopes to inspire others with her journey and expresses gratitude to her parents for their unwavering support throughout her endeavors.
